P5B Deluxe - how do I disable the onboard sound

It's really questionable as to whether an Audigy will give you
DISCERNABLY better sound than the onboard sound card (the key being
whether or not you can hear the difference, as well as whether or not
there IS a difference).

I have an audigy in my system with the onboard sound disabled. But it's
there becuase it's an Audigy 2ZS PLATINUM, and I wanted the front panel
"live drive" the the Audigy Platinum series comes with. I used a sound
card rather than the internal sound for features, not for sound quality
(although the quality may be better, but probably not to an extent that
I could hear the difference).

Dear Gene,

you can turn off the on board sound function in the BIOS. To change
BIOS settings:

Restart your PC, and tap the "DEL" key to enter the BIOS setup function.

Here is the main panel you will see:

You will need to navigate to the [Advanced] settings menu, as seen
further down on that page--last BIOS screenshot.

You will see:

[Configure WIN627EHF Super IO Chipset]

Change "HD AUDIO CONTROLLER" to [disabled].

You must explicitly save your changes as you exit, then, when the
computer reboots, the on board audio will be disabled.
